Jonathan’s experience spans 22 years in the property industry, with an excellent track record as Development Manager at Liberty Properties, Group Five and Absa prior to joining STANLIB as an Asset Manager in 2013. In 2016, Jonathan was appointed Asset Management Executive at Liberty Two Degrees (L2D) to manage Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square, which today are arguably South Africa’s most prestigious and iconic assets.
In 2017, Jonathan was appointed Chief Operations Officer (COO) at L2D and was instrumental in the reconstitution and listing of the company as a corporate REIT in 2018. In his role as COO, Jonathan has been largely contributary in enhancing the quality of the L2D portfolio of assets which are positioned for growth while maintaining their robust nature.
In addition to his role as COO of L2D, Jonathan is also a member of RICS. Jonathan has a BSc in Quantity Surveying from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Steph has a track record spanning over 30 years in Human Resource Management with expertise in talent acquisition, change management, leadership development, performance evaluation, talent management and retention. She is a qualified coach and is skilled in strategically partnering with the organisation and providing the necessary tools, training, coaching, and oversight that the organisation needs for successful operation in building the employee value proposition.
Steph joined Liberty Two Degrees in January 2017 as the Human Resources Business Partner. Her role at L2D entails strategically encouraging participation and engagement, providing insight and direction, leadership development, talent management and honest support to ensure optimal business performance. Steph has also worked with some of the biggest names in retail such as Makro and Massmart.
She enjoys spending time with her family and is happiest in the bush and wide open spaces.

Amelia is the Chief Executive of Liberty Two Degrees (L2D) since listing the company as a Trust REIT in December 2016. In 2018, Amelia led the reconstitution of L2D to a Corporate REIT as well as the alignment of the company to investor preferences, effectively positioning the business for sustainable growth.
Today, L2D is co-owner in South Africa’s most iconic shopping centres, namely Sandton City, Nelson Mandela Square, Eastgate Shopping Centre, Melrose Arch and Liberty Midlands Mall among others across the country focused on creating experiential spaces to benefit generations.
Amelia’s experience spans 21 years in the property sector, initially established at Old Mutual Property in various postions before exiting her role as the Chief Operations Officer and then joining STANLIB in 2012 to establish the STANLIB Direct Property Investment business, before taking on the role at L2D.
Passionate about serving the property industry, Amelia was the President of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) from 2014 to 2015. She is also past Chair of Women’s Property Network (WPN) and served as a trustee for the education trusts of WPN and SAPOA until 2018. Amelia was appointed to the SA REIT Executive Committee in 2021 and serves as the chair of the research committee.
On 21 July 2021, Amelia was inaugurated as the founding member of the WITS University Industry Advisory Board of the School of Construction Economics and Management. The Board consists of construction and property industry leaders, and aims to build stronger ties and nurture strategic relationships with the construction and property industry.

José is a Chartered Accountant and a proficient dealmaker. He was appointed as the Financial Director of Liberty Two Degrees in March 2017. In this role, José is responsible for financial risk management, investment analysis and the capital structure of the REIT in addition to financial planning and record keeping. Before joining Liberty Two Degrees, José was a dealmaker in the Real Estate Investment Banking Division of Rand Merchant Bank where he was responsible for originating and implementing various transactions in the property sector.
José completed articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he serviced clients in the financial services industry with a specific focus on structured finance. Outside of the office, José is an endurance sports enthusiast and enjoys spending time with his family.
José was appointed as a Director of the Manager on 23 March 2017 following the approval by the Financial Services Board (FSB).
Head of Analysis

Coming from a strong financial background at both ABSA Asset Management and the Public Investment Corporation SOC Limited, Sumenthree joined Liberty Two Degrees in 2017 as a Property Investment Analyst. She is skilled in financial modelling and the analysis of investment opportunities.
While at ABSA, Sumenthree was part of the team that was awarded the Raging Bull for Best South African Real Estate Fund for 2016.
During her eight year career, Sumenthree has performed fundamental research and analysis of companies in the listed property, retail and food producer sectors of the JSE. Her responsibilities at L2D include monitoring the operational performance of the portfolio, analysing trading patterns and financial returns against budgets and benchmarks and reporting hereon within the L2D reporting framework.
Marketing and Communications Executive
Heloise has a track record of over 20 years in Marketing and Communications with expertise in brand management, digital marketing, sponsorship management and strategic communication.
She has worked across several industries including Telecommunications, Professional Services and Banking and on multiple brands such as Vodacom , Procter & Gamble and WesBank.
Heloise joined Liberty Two Degrees in January 2020. Her role entails strategically positioning the L2D brand in the market, while providing insights and direction across the portfolio. She is a passionate Marketer who immerses herself into the brands she is responsible for.
She enjoys travelling and is happiest when spending quality time with her family and friends.

Pat Masithela joined Liberty Two Degrees as Chief Information Officer effective 01 August 2020.
He is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for Information, Information Technology and Digital Transformation initiatives – these will primarily focus on how L2D continues to transform the retail environments to remain at the forefront of the changing retail environment. Patrick also participates in the development of the overall strategic direction of L2D, as part of the Management Committee.
Prior to joining L2D, Pat’s most recent position was that of Chief Specialist: Technology Value Office at Liberty. He is an expert in his field with over 20 years’ experience, a significant part of which was earned in the professional services environment.
He has had an impressive and diverse career path with roles across multiple disciplines including IT, Management Consulting, Strategy Development and Execution, General Management, Financial Audits and Risk Advisory.
Pat has a well-developed understanding of technology trends a meaningful deployment of technology to enable business strategy.
Industry Experience: Over 10 years
Ben joined Stanlib REIT Fund Managers in April 2018 from SA Corporate Real Estate Limited where he was Company Secretary for a period of eight years. In this role he was also responsible for compliance and risk management of the JSE listed company and its approximately 40 subsidiaries. Prior to SA Corporate converting to a Corporate REIT, Ben was employed by Old Mutual Property which he joined as the Company Accountant in April 2000. During his stint at Old Mutual Property, Ben fulfilled various roles and was seconded to joint ventures in Saudi Arabia as Financial Manager for 3 years and to India as CFO for 18 months. He was also responsible for the secretariat function and risk management at these JVs.
Before joining Old Mutual Property, Ben held various financial and accounting positions in companies in the retail, services, importing and distribution and petrochemical industries. He spent four years working the United Kingdom mainly consulting as a financial manager.
Ben has extensive financial, property, corporate secretariat, governance, compliance and risk management experience in different corporate environments, across a number of sectors in four countries.
He holds a post graduate qualification in Company Secretarial and Governance Practice from Chartered Secretaries Southern Africa (CSSA) and has a diploma in Marketing Management. In 2010 he obtained a certificate attended the Property Development Programme from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business.
He is a fellow member of CSSA and an affiliate member of the Compliance Institute.
Chief Risk Officer

With a strong finance and advisory background, Gareth joined STANLIB in 2016 from Merchant West with an impressive 20 years of experience in the financial field. During his career, he has been a Partner at Deloitte & Touche, Managing Director and the Head of Project Finance at well-known South African companies.
After his contribution as a core member of the team that listed Liberty Two Degrees on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Gareth took up the role of Finance Executive at Liberty Two Degrees. In this role, Gareth became an EXCO member in 2017 and is responsible for overseeing the overall financial scope of the company.
